Rs18047.541mn allocated for Kashmir, GB

Hafeez_ShaikhISLAMABAD: The government in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2011-12 has earmarked Rs18047.541 million with a foreign aid component of Rs.782 million for various ongoing and new projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to a budgetary document, Rs10373.693 million have been allocated for nine ongoing schemes in AJ&K and Rs.405 million for two new schemes.

An amount of Rs8284 million has been reserved for the ongoing Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Block Allocation), while Rs996 million, Rs500 million and Rs321.758 for Construction of Rathua Bridge across Reservoir Channel on Mirpur Islamgarh Road, Provision of Water Supply and Sewerage of Mirpur City and Hamlets and Multi Sector Rehabilitation and Improvement Project, respectively.

Out of the two new schemes Rs.400 million have been earmarked for 43.5 MW Jargan Hydro Power Project.

A total of Rs7268.848 million have been allocated for 14 ongoing schemes in Gilgit-Baltistan. Around Rs.6076.560 million have been reserved for Gilgit-Baltistan (Block Allocation), while Rs400 million for 26 MW Hydropower Project at Shagarthang Skardu and Rs300 million for Construction of 14 MW Hydel Power Project Naltar-V.
