shipKARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where four ships carrying containers were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal on Thursday, May 19.

Meanwhile two more ships scheduled to load/offload containers and cement also arrive at outer anchorage of Port on Friday morning.

Berth occupancy was managed at 61.5% at the Port on Thursday where a total of eight ships namely C.V Atlantic Trader, C.V Dubai Express, C.V CSAC Appennini, C.V MSC Sierra, M.V Liberty Spirit, M.V Al-Aska, M.T Ocean Concord and M.T DL Ace are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, cement, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 74,543 tonnes, comprising 52,698 tonnes imports and 21,845 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,570 containers (TEUs) was handled during last 24 hours.

Three ships, container ship, Dubai Express, Oil tanker Ocean Concord and Chemicals carrier DL Ace sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more container ships CSAC Appennini and MSC Sierra are expected to sail same day afternoon.

Three ships C.V Glory, C.V MSC Aureile and M.T Karachi are expected to take berths at QICT and FOTCO respectively on Friday, May 20. Two container ships MSC Magali and MSC Aurelie are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, May 21, while another ship Maersk Georgia is due to arrive on Sunday, May 22.
