ElectricityISLAMABAD: The electricity shortfall in the country on Thursday again jumped to 5,985 MW compelling Pakistan Electric Supply Company (PEPCO) to observe six to eight hours loadshedding in urban and rural areas respectively across the country.

According to the brief on daily power generation and load-management position, the total power generation was recorded as 12,175 MW against the demand of 18,160 MW during the last 24 hours.

The hydel generation stood at 4,928 MW,WAPDA thermal 1,267 MW, IPPs 5,904 MW and Rental 76 MW, the report said.

As many as 700 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).

The power demand also swelled due to rising of mercury level in the country and it stood at 18,160 MW.
