FBRISLAMABAD: Production of jeeps and cars increased by 16.14 percent during the first nine months of the current fiscal year against the corresponding period of last year.

As many as 101,522 jeeps and cars were manufactured from July-March (2010-11) as compared to the production of 87,419 units during last year, according to data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).

Jeeps and cars production during March 2011 stood at 15,028 units against the production of 11,878 units during March 2010, showing an increase of 26.52 percent.

The production of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) witnessed an increase of 23.34 percent and 60.07 during July-March (2010-11) and March 2010 respectively over the corresponding periods of last year.

Production of motorcycles increased by 18.72 percent during the first nine months of the current year and 17.74 in March 2011, the data revealed.

As many as 1,194,567 motorcycles were produced in July-March (2010-11) while the production stood at 142,862 units in March 2011.
