KARACHI: Accepting the offer of Balochistan government, noted economist Dr. Kaiser Bengali has decided to join as Technical Adviser on Economic Affairs to Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Business Recorder learnt here on Wednesday.
Sources closed to Dr Bengali disclosed that Dr. Kaiser who remained as an Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on Planning and Development (P&D) during the previous PPPP-led provincial government, is joining as Technical Adviser to CM Balochistan.
Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has offered Dr. Bengali the said position after taking oath as Chief Minister, but Dr. Kaiser was on a foreign visit to United States and Canada, sources said.
After his return, Dr Kaiser called on CM Balochistan in Karachi and told him that he is ready to join Balochistan government. Now Bengali would visit Quetta in the first week of September, sources said.
Dr Kaiser Bengali, who had made a detailed report on “Balochistan Development Strategy”, holds a Masters Degree in Economics from Boston University, USA, and a PhD in Economics from University of Karachi.
He was Member of the National Finance Commission (NFC), National Coordinator of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and remained members of many state-run committees on Thar Coal and Sindh Revenue Board (SRB).
He also served as Managing Director of the Social Policy and Development Centre, Karachi and has vast experience in the fields of teaching, research, administration, publications, personnel and finance. Bengali has authored several books.
When contacted Dr Kaiser confirmed this news and said that he has been working on Balochistan’s economic and developmental issues since 1980, and travelled throughout the province and having knowledge of economical and developmental issues of the province.
