LibyaBENGHAZI: A car bomb exploded not far from the the headquarters of Libya's rebels in their eastern bastion of Benghazi on Tuesday night, without causing any casualties, AFP correspondents said.

The explosion, which was confirmed by rebel military spokesman Omar Bani, took place about 200 metres (yards) from the seafront headquarters of rebels fighting to overthrow Libyan strongman Moamer Kadhafi.

"A white Chevrolet blew up just before evening prayers," said Libyan journalist Nasser Warfuli at the scene. "We don't know who did it."

Another witness, Mohammed Baluri, said he believed it was the work of "Qadhafi cells."

This is the first car bomb in Benghazi since the Libyan uprising started in mid-February.
