SBP officials to brief farmers about banking incentives

SBPKARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is holding a gathering of progressive farmers on May 2 in Sakrand, District Shaheed Benazir Abad on May 2 about the banking services for agriculture sector.

Senior officials from the State Bank of Pakistan, SBPBSC and commercial banks will be available at the mela to brief the farmers about the banking services for the agriculture sector, it was announced by Central Bank here on Saturday.

Agricultural experts will also brief the farmers about the latest research in agriculture sector for increasing the farm productivity.

It said the gathering of farmers and bank officials will be inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Agriculture, Ali Nawaz Shah and it has been termed as 'Third Hari Melo' to be held at Agriculture Training Institute Sakrand.

All stakeholders including commercial banks, Sindh Agriculture Department, farm machinery manufacturers, agri. marketing companies (fertilizers, pesticides and seeds suppliers), Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam and provincial departments of livestock, dairy, animal husbandry and fisheries will set up their stalls at the 'mela' to create awareness about their products, services and initiatives for the benefit of farming community of the region.

The mela, which is basically being organized by the State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation (SBPSC), Hyderabad in collaboration with all commercial banks, will be attended legislators and senior officials of different government departments dealing with agriculture and over 2000 haris and farmers.
