ECP considers insertion of dual nationality column in nomination paper

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is considering insertion of a new column in the nomination paper form to obtain information of dual nationality of the candidates of future election. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in a written reply informed the National Assembly here during the question hour that Election Commission has no data with regard to dual nationality of Members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies.

He said there was no column of dual nationality in the nomination papers prescribed under the law therefore the data of dual national MNAs and MPS was unavailable.

To another question, he informed that National Accountability Courts decided as many as 1,293 cases during the last five years till date while 553 cases were pending in the courts.
