HONG KONG: Shares in Hong Kong gained 1.60 percent Wednesday on bargain hunting and following a rally on Wall Street and strong earnings reports from leading US firms.
Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index added 375.10 points to 23,896.10 on turnover of HK$72.49 billion ($9.30 billion).
Chinese shares closed up 0.27 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index,which covers both A and B shares, ended 8.00 points higher at 3,007.04 on turnover of 143.8 billion yuan
