NEW YORK: US stocks rose at the open on Tuesday, lifted by earnings from bellwethers Goldman Sachs and Johnson & Johnson.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 45.03 points, or 0.37 percent, to 12,246.62. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 4.02 points, or 0.31 percent, to 1,309.16. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 8.57 points, or 0.33 percent, to 2,744.41.
