LONDON: Recently elected Ireland Prime Minister Enda Kenny was on Monday due to meet British counterpart David Cameron in London where they were expected to discuss Ireland's plans for economic recovery.
Kenny, who came to power in March, was to attend his first bilateral meeting with the British leader before delivering a keynote speech addressing his country's efforts to pull out of economic crisis.
The two leaders were also expected to map out future bilateral relations and discuss arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland.
"The purpose of my visit to London is three-fold," Kenny explained. "I want to meet with representatives of the Irish community and to recognise their contribution to our country and to life in Britain.
"I will be communicating.what the new government is doing to address Ireland's economic crisis and I will be meeting with the Prime Minister to emphasise our shared commitment to building on the peace process in Northern Ireland," he added.
