KARACHI: PPP nominee Dr. Asim Hussain has been elected Senator un-opposed in the bye-election to vacant seat from the province of Sindh.
"Dr. Asim Hussain has been elected un-contested to the Senate seat of Pakistan against a general seat from Sindh province fallen vant due to resignation of Dr. Khatu Mal Jeewan," said Provincial Election Commissioner, Sono Baloch while talking to APP here Saturday.
"Khatu Mal had resigned from the un-expired term of office, which is due to expire on March 11, 2015," he added.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, senior provincial minister Pir Mazharul Haq, Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza and members of the provincial cabinet were also present at the provincial Election Commissioner's office during the scrutiny of papers of Dr. Asim Hussain.
No other candidate filed papers against him, Sono Baloch added.
