KARACHI: “Portrait of the Father,” created by a renowned 17th Century Dutch painter Rembrandt has finally been recovered and returned to the Serbian museum from where it was stolen seven years ago.
The masterpiece was stolen from Novi Sad City Museum in January 2006, by masked robbers who also stole 3 other paintings; “Seneca” by Rubens,” Night Landscape with a Fisherman” by Pier Francesco Mola and “Head of Christ” by an unknown artist from the 16th and 17th Century.
According to reports, the four people who were involved in the 2006 theft have been arrested, but sadly three other paintings are still missing by the Dutch painters. Not only that, in 2011 drawings by Rembrandt were stolen from a hotel in Marina del Ray, but quickly recovered.
Police recovered Rembrandt’s painting 40 miles away from the museum, worth almost around $4 billion.
