pnca--ISLAMABAD: The National Art Gallery of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has set up a fully furnished laboratory for restoration of damaged paintings and art works.

 

According to an official at PNCA, Rs 6.402 million had been allocated in annual budget 2012-13 for the project adding the council planned to established a laboratory to restore the works which was damaged due to extreme weather condition, transportation, natural disaster or mishandling.

 

The National Art Gallery has got a valuable treasure of master-pieces of artwork which is collected over a period of time.

 

These are regularly displayed for public viewing and require time to time maintenance.

 

The team of experts has been working on these projects for last 2 years and the amount of grant gave the encouragement to continue their work for maintaining the visual arts record.

 

"It is a nationwide project that will engage all the artists for documenting and preserving their art for future generations while all art collections will get favorable conditions," the official said.

 

The grant allocated for the project would ultimately benefit promotion of culture in the country and encourage the people related to this field, he added.

 

In this regard, the National Art Gallery has been frequently organizing workshops to train stakeholders from all over Pakistan to train young aspirants and others who interested from national and local experts.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that in the past experts from Italy, Japan, France and Germany were also invited to conduct workshops in paintings on canvas, paper, board, sculpture.
