ahmed mukhtar 400ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power, Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar has asked the Energy Management Committee to streamline the load management, ensure equitable load shedding in the country and provide maximum relief to the consumers.

He made these directions while presiding over a meeting of Energy Management Committee (EMC) here Wednesday.

The Minister asked them to further revise the plan for equitable load-shedding both for urban and rural areas.

The Minister asked the EMC to ensure allocated power drawls as per their share for all Discos, lifting of forced load shedding and removal of transmission and distribution constraints.

The Minister said that smooth and uninterrupted power supply is the priority of the government. He said that the government is utilizing all the resources to enhance the power generation and also focusing on indigenous and alternative power generation resources.

He said that the existing thermal power plants are being converted on cheaper fuel to generate electricity.

The Minister also directed to provide detail of the sectors which are being given maximum relief in load-shedding.

Earlier, the EMC briefed the Minister on the current power situation, load management schedule for urban and rural areas and future plan of action for providing relief to the consumers and exemption of load-shedding during Sehar and Iftar.

The meeting also discussed various measures of energy conservation, reduce line losses, and use of energy efficient electric appliances for consumers.

Secretary Water and Power, Zafar Mehmood, Salahuddin Rafai, Convener of EMC and Ijaz R. Qureshi Member of EMC, Javed Parvez, CEO, IESCO (Member) and Malik Ejaz (Member) participated.
