ISTANBUL: The Turkish lira firmed to its strongest in one year against a euro-dollar basket , hitting 1.9994 on Tuesday, from 2.0041 a day earlier as investors bought Turkish bonds and shares and local companies sold dollars to pay August taxes.
By 0649 GMT, the lira stood at 1.7972 versus the dollar from 1.8020 late on Monday.
