Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 29,893 tonnes of cargo comprising 21,303 tonnes of import cargo and 8,590 tonnes of export cargo including 1,738 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 21,303 tonnes comprised of 19,413 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,890 tonnes of bulk cargo.

The total export cargos of 8,590 tonnes comprised of 8,390 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 1,738 containers comprising of 1,186 containers of import and 552 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 538 of 20's and 247 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 77 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 144 of 20's and 150 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 54 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Manet, Darina and ASL Mercury carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
