The Karachi Port handled 284,446 tonnes of cargo comprising 174,013 tonnes of import cargo and 110,433 tonnes of export cargo including 6,070 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 174,013 tonnes comprised of 98,348 tonnes of containerised cargo and 75,665 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 110,433 tonnes comprised of 46,620 tonnes of containerised cargo; 513 tonnes of bulk cargo; 63,300 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,070 containers comprising of 3,408 containers of import and 2,662 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,391 of 20's and 950 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 58 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 425 of 20's and 246 of 40's loaded containers while 469 of 20's and 638 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely MOL Generosity, Balbina, Ubena, Kota Karim, Nordspring, CSL Sophie, Palomar and MT Shalamar carrying containers and tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Hyundai Vancouver, Kota Karim, Kota Cabar, CSL Sophie, Peace Worth, SM Osprey, Rainbow Island-66, Tomini Ability and Apiradee Naree carrying containers, tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 125,689 tonnes comprising 98,467 tonnes of import cargo and 27,222 tonnes of export cargo including 2,869 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 98,467 tonnes includes 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 11,394 tonnes of soyabean; 47,095 tonnes of gas oil and 33,478 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 27,222 tonnes includes 6,189 tonnes of rice and 21,033 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,869 containers comprising of 1,762 containers import and 1,107 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were six ships sailed out to sea on Monday morning. A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, soyabean, chemical, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as ten vessels viz. MSC Bilbao, Ilisson, Sakizaya Integrity, Tiger Winter, Khairpur, CSC Cyanete, Atlantic Breeze, Regil, Elim and Jbu Opal carrying containers, canola, coal, chemical, mogas, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. MSC Bilbao, Ilisson, Tiger Winter, Khairpur and Regil carrying containers, coal, chemical, gas oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There was no ship due to arrive on Monday.
