The Karachi Port handled 216,468 tonnes of cargo comprising 156,845 tonnes of import cargo and 59,623 tonnes of export cargo including 2,798 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 156,845 tonnes comprised of 48,573 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,325 tonnes of DPA; 14,148 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 78,799 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 59,623 tonnes comprised of 34,477 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,500 tonnes of clinker; 1,446 tonnes of talcum powder and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,798 containers comprising of 1,056 containers import and 1,742 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 493 of 20's and 193 of 40's loaded while 07 of 20's and 85 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 234 of 20's and 365 40's loaded containers while 230 of 20's and 274 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Cosco Pacific, Nord Spring, CSCL Sydney, Kota Cabar, MT Quetta, ASL Fottune and Hafnia Australia carrying containers, oil tanker, talcum powder and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Diyala, CSCL Sydney, CT Ace, MT Lahore and Oriental Freesia carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 143,349 tonnes comprising 105,862 tonnes of import cargo and 37,487 tonnes of export cargo including 2,132 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 105,862 tonnes includes 7,234 tonnes of LNG; 17,361 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,860 tonnes of palm oil; 4,918 tonnes of soyabean; 68,468 tonnes of coal and 3,021 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,487 tonnes includes 37,487 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,132 containers comprising of 159 containers import and 1,973 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were four ships namely AS California, GSL Eleni, Pacific Talent and Polaris carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three ships namely Anaya, Omnia and Hafnia Arctic carrying coal and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as three vessels viz. Weihe, Nordic Geneva and Stena Imperative carrying soyabean, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. MSC Messina, Conti Cortesia and Stena Imperative carrying containers and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely MSC Messina and Conti Cortesia carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely MSC Asya and Maersk Kensington carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
