World Cup 2019: England post 311 on board against South Africa

England posted 311 runs at the loss of eight wickets in the ICC World Cup 2019 opening match against South Africa at Kennington Oval, London on Thursday.

All rounder Ben Stokes was the top scorer for his side with an inning of 89 runs off 79 deliveries, featuring nine boundaries. Jason Roy, Joe Root and skipper Eoin Morgan hit 54, 51 and 57 runs, respectively.

Lungi Ngigi was the pick of the Proteas bowling line, picking up three wickets in his 10-overs spell. Leggie Imran Tahir and speedster Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets each. Meanwhile, Andile Phehlukwayo picked up one wicket.
