‘Indebted’ Amir should give his all for Pakistan says Akhtar  

Pakistan former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes that speedster Mohammad Amir should need to give his 100 percent to make into the World Cup squad, as he is ‘indebted’ to the Pakistani people.

“I believe that Amir is indebted to the Pakistani people and nation, because many including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have invested a lot in him morally and financially and have worked very hard to bring him back to international cricket. So he [Amir] should realize that he needs to put all his energies into making into the Pakistan squad,” said Akhtar in his video message.

“If Amir does not get included in the World Cup, then it is going to be a very sad scenario for him, at the same I would think that Amir should go to the World Cup,” added Akhtar, hailed as the Rawalpindi Express.

The exclusion of Mohammad Amir was a major surprise for many. The fast bowler has been a victim of a prolonged dry spell, however, many pundits argue that Amir bowling could be useful for Pakistan in English conditions.

Despite not making into the 15-members squad Amir will serve as cover for the World Cup squad and, if required, can be drafted into the side until 23 May without ICC permission.
