Sarfraz Ahmed remarks in lighter tune: Aamir Sohail

ISLAMABAD: Former captain Pakistan Cricket team Aamir Sohail Thursday said remarks were passed by the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed during the second One-day International against South Africa was in lighter tune and now it was the job of PCB to clear his point of view comprehensively in this regard.

Talking to a private news channel, he said it was unfortunate that such remarks passed by Sarfaz Ahmed, but it was more in lighter mood and his intention was not to attack personally someone.

He said as a captain there was always a huge responsibility that any skipper has to play in the match to control the players and the International Cricket Council (ICC) was taking strict action about the team leaders if they were found guilty.

The ICC’s anti-racism code for participants allows the accused player/official to reach conciliation without facing any harsh penalty, he said.

The former captain said the clause 4.3 of the ICC’s anti-racism code says that if the ICC consents to the matter being resolved by a process of conciliation then the process can be initiated without the player (Sarfaraz Ahmed in this case) facing any formal disciplinary action.

He said Sarfaz Ahmed is among the world most respected players and he should be given a margin over his passing comments. It is pertinent to mention here that Sarfaraz had already apologized if his comments hurts someone, he remarked.

Aamir Sohail said "the PCB needs to clarify that Sarfaz's intentions were not bad for passing these remarks."
