BERLIN: German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet the leaders of the Czech Republic, Ireland and Latvia next week to talk about the euro crisis, ahead of an EU summit in March, her office said Friday.
Merkel will hold informal talks with prime ministers Petr Necas, Enda Kenny and Valdis Dombrovskis in Meseberg castle just outside Berlin next Thursday, her office said.
The leaders will have "an exchange of views on questions related to the economic and monetary union and the European Union in general" but no press statement is expected after the meeting.
The talks follow similar a meeting earlier in the month with Merkel's counterparts from Denmark, Estonia and the Netherlands.
Last month, she welcomed the leaders of Austria, Portugal and Sweden to Berlin for talks on the euro crisis.
Her spokesman Steffen Seibert said she planned to hold similar such gatherings in the future.
The Czech Republic and Latvia are not members of the 17-member eurozone.
Ireland was hit hard by the eurozone debt crisis but has enacted deep economic reforms that have seen the markets turn their fire elsewhere, notably Greece.
The EU summit, due on March 1 and 2, will also involve a eurozone gathering, in which leaders hope to discuss the currency's debt firewall and elect a new eurozone boss, likely to be current EU president Herman van Rompuy.
