The Karachi Port handled 167,223 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,605 tonnes of import cargo and 35,618 tonnes of export cargo including 7,643 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 131,605 tonnes comprised of 61,829 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,830 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,928 tonnes of canola 8,300 tonnes of rock phosphate; 5,913 tonnes of coal; 13,805 tonnes of DAP and 23,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,618 tonnes comprised of 20,367 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,651 tonnes of clinkers and 8,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,643 containers comprising of 4,324 containers import and 3,319 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,315 of 20's and 1,455 of 40's loaded while 29 of 20's and 35 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 635 of 20's and 557 of 40's loaded containers while 354 of 20's and 608 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Wan Hai-515 and Heilan Equilbrium carrying containers and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. X-Press Suez, CMA CGM Tosca, Clemens Schulte, Denvon Trader, YM Eminence, High Priority, MT Lahore, African Arrow and Aramis carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 141,995 tonnes comprising 106,570 tonnes of import cargo and 35,425 tonnes of export cargo including 3,296 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 106,570 tonnes includes 16,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,893 tonnes of palm oil; 12,200 tonnes of LNG; 10,500 tonnes of coal; 14,129 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 4,000 tonnes of chemical and 37,848 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,425 tonnes includes; 10,649 tonnes of cement and 24,776 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,296 containers comprising of 1,992 containers import and 1,304 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Pina, MV YM Miranda, MT Maran Gas Asclepius and MT Euro Brave carrying containers, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Seamax Darien and CV Risa carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Seamax Darien, CV MSC Pina, MV Amadeus, MV Navios Oriana, MV Spar Vega, MV YM Miranda, MT Maran Gas Asclepius MT Euro Brave and Risa were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen ships namely MV Euro Force, MV Alora, MV Shan Dong Chong Wen, MV Ocean Jort, MV Thor Brave, MV Ginga Merkin, MV JS Green Sail, MV IRF Kristi Angano, MT Maria-III, MT Glorious, MT Freight Margie, MT Jo Pinari, MT Maritime Lira, MT Summer Ploog, MT Stoa Fast and MT Phonix Nereid carrying condensate, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV MSC Tomoko, CV Maersk Chicago MV Euro Force, MV Ocean Jort, MV JS Green Sail, MT Maritime Lira and MT Phonix Nereid carrying containers, condensate, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Iron Ore and Coal Berth and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Tomoko and CV Maersk Chicago carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely CV MOL Grandour carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
