Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday alleged Maryam Nawaz and former Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal as 'lead characters' behind the controversial book written by Reham Khan, the former wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan.
As elections are drawing nearer, Reham has decided to lift the lid on her failed 10-month marriage with cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan. The PTI believes that it is being done by the former BBC weather woman at the behest of rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to blackmail Imran Khan.
PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry released some emails exchanged between Ahsan Iqbal and Reham Khan, which clearly shows the duo working on a plan to discuss the issue as what could be done to use whatever information Reham had about Imran.
In one of the leaked emails, which the PTI has released to media, Reham seems quite desperate to meet both Iqbal and Maryam to discuss and chalk out a strategy against Imran.
"Don't want to get trolled by PTI workers [sic] and harassed by JKT [Jahangir Khan Tareen] mafia. Let me know how to use that information," she writes in a series of emails sent to Ahsan, using her IPhone.
'RehamOnPMLNAgenda' has become top trend on Twitter, where PTI supporters are accusing Khan's former wife of resorting to character assassination after her failed marriage with him. They claim that the book is being sponsored by PML-N ahead of general elections to tarnish the image of Imran Khan.
"Where, how and through whom, Rehman has been making all these plans, is no more a secret," said PTI spokesperson after releasing the emails exchanged between Ahsan and Reham to the media.
"We've got all the proofs of Reham's meetings with Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam, and all the meetings were arranged by Ahsan Iqbal...irrefutable proofs have badly exposed all the conspiracy," he added.
He said the sole purpose of the so-called biography of Reham is a drama, which is being staged by Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and cronies to weaken the vibrant opposition, but they would not succeed in their nefarious designs.
According to Hamza Ali Abbasi, a close aid of Imran Khan who claims of reading the book, the book has direct libelous accusations against Imran Khan, due to which several well-known publishers refused to publish it.
"Many reputed publishers asked Reham Khan for proofs regarding her libelous accusations but she couldn't provide any and they refused to publish the book," Hamza said.
"This is the reason she [Reham Khan] is going to publish the book herself," he explained. Hamza claimed that the first 250 pages of the book are about Reham Khan's first husband, Dr Ijaz Rehman, who she has portrayed as some psychotic person. "The next 300-plus pages of the book revolve around Imran Khan and how he is the worst of the human on planet earth," said Hamza.
According to Abbasi, Reham has portrayed Imran Khan as someone who abhors Islam and an insecure person. She has also severely lambasted Jemima Goldsmith, the first wife of Imran Khan, as well as his two sons - Qasim and Suleman.
"She has berated Suleman [Imran's elder son], saying he is under confident while about her own son from her first husband, she says he is very confident boy," said Hamza.
