Chief Justice of Pakistan here on Saturday directed Inspector General of Police(IGP) Punjab to register a case against all nominees involved in torturing Ayesha Ahmad Malik and her daughter and provide security to Ayesha who claimed to be wife of Hamza Shahbaz. The Chief Justice handing over order of a sessions court directed the police chief, "Lodge a case today if the order is still in filed on the complaint of Ms Malik".
CJP Nisar observed if the order had not been set aside by a higher court then the case should be lodged immediately. CJP Saqib Nisar had taken a suo motu notice on a complaint of Ayesha Malik who had approached him against delay in her cases and threats to her and her daughter's lives.
She said a sessions court in 2011 had ordered the police to lodge a case against Hamza Shahbaz, Ali Imran, Rana Sanaullah, former Sindh IG Rana Maqbool, former additional IG investigation Zulfiqar Cheema and others. The chief justice directing Advocate General Punjab to ensure appearance of Hamza in the court by 1 am. observed, "The court cannot see anyone's life under threat".
Advocate General, however, informed the court that Hamza was out of country and would return within three to four days. The Chief Justice adjourned the hearing to June 29 and directed the IGP to provide complete security to Ayesha Malik and also called record of cases registered against her. He further directed the police chief to fix responsibility of police officials involved in delaying registration of the torture case despite the court's order.
It all started in 2011, when Defence-A police arrested Ayesha Ahad Malik and her young daughter in a kidnapping for ransom case. A Pilipino woman had accused Ms Malik of kidnapping her son for ransom. A judge of anti-terrorism court had also allowed the police ten-day physical remand of Ms Malik, however, the Lahore High Court had suspended the same and also questioned the integrity of the trial judge.
Later, Ms Malik filed a petition before sessions court for registration of a case against police officials for keeping her and her young daughter in illegal custody and also subjecting them to torture and alleged that Hamza Shahbaz, Rana Sanaullah Khan and some police officers were involved in the matter.
