Iranian President accorded warm welcome at Aiwan-e-Sadr
ISLAMABAD: A warm welcome was accorded to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he arrived here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr Thursday afternoon, to participate in the Pakistan- Afghanistan-Iran trilateral summit.
The Iranian President was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the President House.
National anthems of the two countries were played and the Iranian President was presented a salute by a contingent of the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force. The Iranian President reviewed the guard of honour.
President Zardari introduced members of Pakistan's federal cabinet to the visiting dignitary. President Ahmadinejad introduced members of his delegation.
The two leaders held bilateral talks to be followed by the delegation-level talks.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai will later join the two for an informal round of talks.
