On the occasion of his first public appearance after escaping the assassination attempt, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said those who are spreading narrative of hatred among people are enemies of the country. Addressing the passing-out parade ceremony of Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) here at Police Line Headquarters on Thursday, he said that law and order in the country has significantly improved but war against terrorism will be continued till complete elimination of terrorists and extremists.
"Our enemies want to divide use and are making efforts to weaken us internally but they will not succeed," he said. He praised police and security forces for fighting against the menace of terrorism. "We do not want to give our next generations a Pakistan where they will live in fear," he said.
The minister said that public safety and security is the top priority of the government and efforts will be made to make Islamabad one of the safest cities of the world. He said that Rs 2 billion have been allocated for the establishment of national police hospital in the federal capital. "A record budget has been allocated for police in the upcoming year," he said.
He said that efforts have been made to equip police with modern equipment. "Currently city police have only three smart cars equipped with modern technology but I have issued directives to convert all cars into smart cars", he said, adding that all these smart cars should be linked with safe city project.
