After Director General of Trade Organizations (DGTO) cancelled a license of Halal Products and Services Association of Pakistan (HPSAP), demands are made to unseat Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir from Senior Vice President of FPCCI slot. Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, who is currently Senior Vice President of FPCCI 2018 term, had contested the election on the basis of HPSAP, which license the DGTO has cancelled. Thus, the license cancellation triggered demands from different circles for Mazhar Ali unseating as Senior Vice President of FPCCI.
Mian Nasser Hayatt Maggo, of alriaz agencies (pvt) Ltd., has demanded for suspension of election result that elected Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, Senior Vice President. In a petition to Regulator Trade Organization (RTO) and a letter to Secretary General of FPCCI, Mian Nasser Hayatt Maggo mentioned that the Director General of Trade Organization vide letter no 21(11)/2018-To of April 3, 2018 cancelled the license of HPSAP on the ground that the application was time bared.
The DGTO letter says that as per section 6(2) of Trade Organization Act, 2013, application for renewal to be made ninety days prior to the expiry of the license. The application of HPSAP for renewal of license was to be made by December 17, 2017 whereas application was made on March 14, 2018 with the delay of three months.
Since the license of HPSAP has been cancelled on April 3, 2018 from where Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir was elected therefore he should have been removed from the managing committee as well as from the post of Senior Vice President of FPCCI. However when contacted the Senior Vice President FPCCI Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir to comment, he said after cancellation of license the association approached the secretary ministry of commerce for renewal of the license of HPSAP and it was allowed. Now a fresh application is with DGTO for it renewal, he added.
He said that it is a propaganda against him as the elections were held before cancellation of HPSAP license. Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir said that the website of GDTO has a list of associations whose licenses were cancelled excluding the name of HPSAP.
