Pakistan People's Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that the 'truth and reconciliation commission' is acceptable if it starts its inquiry of the follies committed since the regime of General Zia-ul-Haq(retd). He was addressing party workers of Lahore division at an Iftar reception on Thursday.
He criticized Nawaz Sharif for his controversial statement, saying that Nawaz was not ready to support his motherland because he is drunk with power. He asked Nawaz Sharif about the assets of his family at the time of partition against what he is possessing now. He further stressed that a politician cannot compromise with the honour of his homeland.
He said Nawaz Sharif has been part of establishment over the last 30 years. He was also founder of Changa Manga politics, he added.
He said a few politicians have become mad in pursuing their interests. They have put the country's integrity at stake, he added. Meanwhile, has expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Colonel Sohail Abid and paid him glowing tributes.
The former president said that soldiers who defend their country are heroes of the nation. Zardari said the Bhutto family and the PPP salute the young soldiers who are always ready to protect the country. He said they stand in solidarity with the family of Shaheed Colonel Sohail Abid.
