Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Friday launched operation against quacks as well as sale of substandard milk and use of fancy number plates in the federal capital. The official said that the decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capitan Mushtaq Ahmed (retd).
The meeting decided to launch a grand operation against the sale of substandard and spurious milk, he said, adding that the deputy commissioner issued directives to the department concerned to conduct inspections of all hotels, restaurants and other food spots in the city. He said it is also decided to initiate action against quacks in the federal capital. Similarly, he said, the meeting also issued directives to take action against the use of fancy number plates by the motorists in the city.
The deputy commissioner also directed the department concerned to complete process of issuance of tender regarding issuance of new number plates, he added. The official said that the meeting also decided to start fitness checking of CNG cylinders installed in public transport vehicles. The meeting asked owners of public transport vehicles to obtain fitness certificates from Oil and Gas Regulator Authority (OGRA), he said.
The deputy commissioner directed assistant commissioners (ACs) to pay a visit to Revenue department on daily basis. He also asked the ACs to take action against the revenue officers who are found absent from office or involved in illegal activities. The meeting also cancelled a tender regarding provision of medicines to basic health units and directed to issue the tender again.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sultan Azam Temuri said that a special human rights desk has been established at Central Police Office to entertain the complaints of marginalized segments of society. He said this while addressing a Christmas cake cutting ceremony organized by Minority Journalists Association here at National Press Club. The city police have always protected the minorities and would continue to safeguard their lives and property in future.
He said that newly established HR desk would monitor every kind of violation and ensure protection to children, women and other segments of society. Temuri said that the heavy deployment of security personnel would be made around the churches and residential areas of Christian community in Islamabad to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion of Christmas.
