Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday said the sacrifice rendered by martyred Army Public Schools (APS) students had not gone in vain and the country's improving peace was owed to them. The army chief's statement came on the third anniversary of the attack on APS in which more than 140 people, including children, were martyred.
CoAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Army Marksmanship Firing Ranges near Jhelum on Saturday. He was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of 37th Pakistan Army Rifle Association Central Meet, the mega shooting competition of the country. The CoAS said, "December 16 is a day that we must never forget. Our enemy hurt us on this day at Peshawar three years back."
The Army Chief said, "We have come out of this heart-wrenching incident through national resilience and faith." He reiterated, "We still have a lot to do to ensure complete defeat for them who perpetrated that crime against us." General Bajwa said while at national level, the path is outlined in the National Action Plan, at the Army level, it is the pursuit of professional excellence and commitment, which has turned the tide.
He said. "The best way to pay homage to our Shuhada (martyrs) is through our contributions to the national strength in pursuit of national objectives."
