Shipping activity at Port Qasim

 KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where four ships carrying containers, project cargo and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Sunday February 5. Meanwhile two more ships carrying chemicals and palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 46 percent on Sunday where a total of six ships namely C.V MSC Clara, C.V Maersk Missouri, M.V Al-Barella, M.V OXL Lotus, M.T Chem Road Fuji and M.T Karachi were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload containers, rice, project cargo, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 66,805 tonnes, comprises 42,048 tonnes imports and 24,757 tonnes exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 2,543 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.

Two ships C.V Maersk Missouri and M.V OXL Lotus sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ship C.V MSC Clara and M.T Chem Road Fuji are expected to sail on Monday afternoon.

Outer anchorage ships carrying containers, Seeds and Chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, FAP and EVTL respectively on Monday February 6. Oil Tanker Fair Spirit is dur to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, while three more ships C.V Maersk Kalamata, C.V Al- Sabahia and M.V Florida-II are due to arrive at on Tuesday February 7.
