Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Tuesday said that his party with the help of people successfully proved that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has lied to the nation and Parliament. Speaking at a press conference after attending the Supreme Court's proceedings in Panamagate case, Khan said that his counsel rightly pointed out everything before the apex court and now it's the Prime Minister, who will have to prove himself innocent, which is next to impossible.
"The Prime Minister lied to the nation on several occasions. He lied in the Parliament and now the time has come how he proves himself innocent as the evidence submitted by the PTI is enough to prove that he has no money trail, as the money was sent out through money laundering," he alleged.
Khan also lauded his party's counsel Naeem Bukhari and his legal team for, what he said, doing a wonderful job in dealing with the pending case before the apex court. "The PTI has submitted evidence of Nawaz's lies in the court and the burden of proof is now on the Sharif family and their lawyers," he said. Khan said the Prime Minister has accepted ownership of the companies and flats. "Now he [Sharif] will have to justify it," he said. "If PTI workers had not come to the streets, the Panama Leaks issue would have been dead as this is what his [PM] advisers like Khawaja Asif had been telling him that the nation will forget it soon, but we kept it alive as it is a turning point in the history of Pakistan," he added.
He said that the Sharifs had said that they bought the Mayfair flats by selling a steel mill, but they had to sell it out as it was going in loss. "Nawaz Sharif claims his property in London was bought after selling Gulf Steel, established by his father in Dubai. But the documents show Gulf Steel was suffering losses...how could he have bought such expensive properties by selling another that was in loss," he added.
Khan said that his lawyer had informed the court that Nawaz Sahrif's son Hussain Nawaz was a student in 1999, and the question is how he became a billionaire within a short span of two years in 2002. "If Maryam Nawaz was not the Prime Minister's dependent then where from all this money came....her travel expenses are said to be Rs 3.5 million, so if she has no source of income from where she brought all money," he questioned.
