Shares on Monday did gain amid sluggish trading on the Lahore Stock Exchange. The LSE-25 index did lose 21.25 points to 5,423.83 against 5,445.08 of last Friday while the transaction volume did increase to 90,800 shares as compared with the previous volume of 52,500. The market did open well and keep rising following buyers' interest in the Pak Elektron, Maple Leaf Cement, Dewan Cement, Pakcem Limited and Silk Bank though those going under pressure were the Sui Northern, United Bank, Power Cement, Byco Petroleum and Bank of Punjab.
The Pak Elektron gained Rs 3.18 and the Maple Leaf Cement did improve Rs 1.40, while the Dewan Cement and the Pakcem did go up by 37 and 17 paisas. The Sui Northern did lose 55 paisas while the United Bank and the Power Cement did fall by 51 and 36-paisas. The Sui Northern, with trading of 19,000 shares, topped all, followed by the Dewan Cement with 16,000.
