ISLAMABAD: Ramazan, a month of fasting teaches lessons of tolerance, kindness and to help others, especially vulnerable segment who are considered the most deserving for charity rather than giving it in wrong hands.
With advent of the holy month groups of beggars throng in big cities, showing themselves in miserable condition but such people are depriving the real needy from their right of being helped and get assistance from their Muslim brothers and sisters. Pakistani nation which is considered amongst the top country for charity distribution, donate Zakat and Sadqa generously during the Holy month to seek the will of ALLAH but without checking vulnerability of the recipient, the money may go to wrong hands.
A number of groups following their nefarious designs raise funds through beggars, establishing fake charity organizations or conducting charity camps at main points of cities, and ultimately using hard earned money of people for their own objectives.
People who meet both ends of life with great difficulty never want to disclose their agonies in front of others but they are the most deserving segment of society who need help.
Dr. Sajida Kauser, Assistant Professor at International Islamic University Islamabad commented that people give money to help needy but if it is utilized for negative purpose it would not serves their cause.
She suggested that it is better to give food items to deserving rather than simply handing over money.
"Giving food items to deserving people living near our homes or identified by any of our acquaintance is a better option rather giving alms to professional beggars in market or any unknown persons," Dr. Sajida opined.
Shehroz, a working women said, "I am not in favour of giving money to beggars in markets as most of them are part of gangs and networks who give nothing to them rather take all money."
"In my point of view, domestic servants are the most suitable to get help who work hard for a little money, bear expenses of their children and look after their families in meager resources," she stated.
They tried hard to get legitimate livelihood but if they could not succeed working long hours, ultimately there would be a chance of their indulgment towards negative activities which is the most disastrous for society, she further said.
