ISLAMABAD: As the festivities surrounding Eid-Ul-Fitr are approaching fast, bright and multicolour 'Bangles' are becoming the most desired accessory for women to buy, along with trendy dresses and footwear.
A report aired by a private news channel said, On every joyous occasion, Bangles are considered as the most glamorous traditional fashion accessory which is specifically worn on Eid-ul-Fitr. According to females, Eid is incomplete without wearing beautifully carved bangles.
Young and old are busy in preparations for Eid. Especially young girls are eagerly buying bangles and henna to celebrate ‘Eid festival’ in a traditional way.
Ladies shopping remains incomplete without Bangles. Every woman wants to look different and attractive. Accessories give extra attraction to your personality, said a lady customer Ifra Azam.
“I am buying bangles for all three days of the Eid,” said Imaan Hashim, a student of Matric at one such stall at Super Market. She plans to buy bangles and ‘henna’ for her friends and cousins as well.
Fatima Tayyab a shopper said she cannot spend Eid day without wearing bangles. In fact, she had brought along all the women of her family to either buy the accessories or apply mehndi’ for Eid.
“The shopping of bangles and henna always doubles my joy on Eid and without these items my Eid is incomplete”, said another visitor Ushna Abbas in Karachi company.
She said that she has bought bangles and cloths and will come on Chand Raat to decorate her hands with henna.
“I send bangles and henna as gift to all my friends every year to share the happiness of Eid, said Javeria Noman.”
Asad Rao, a stall holder said, “The shopping of traditional bangles has gathered pace in capital with few days left in Eid.”
“And of course we are taking full advantage of the people overwhelming interest in the Eid shopping especially bangles and henna,” he added.
This time on Eid “the costumers’ response is very high towards buying these traditional gifts and they are visiting markets in large number so we are expecting good business,” another shopkeeper Wajid Khan said.
“These bangles are manufactured in Hyderabad, but we buy them from the wholesale market from Lahore and Rawalpindi,” he added.
Ahmad Imran said that metal bangles are very popular among all age groups these days. About bangles covered with ribbons, laces and ‘gota,’ adding that the popularity of such bangles has decreased among buyers.
“They complaint that such bangles stick with clothes,” he said. “That is why we are not selling these bangles at our stall.”
