KARACHI: The federal government has approved the renewal of Mari Development and Production Lease located in District Ghotki, Sindh, in favour of Mari Energies Limited, subject to applicable conditions.

According to a material information disclosure submitted by the company to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday, the company said the lease has been renewed until November 10, 2065, in accordance with the relevant rules.

Mari Energies is the operator of Mari D&PL and holds a 100 percent working interest in the lease, according to the disclosure.

The company said the renewal would enable it to continue investment in exploration and development activities aimed at maintaining and enhancing production from the field. It added that the continued activities would contribute to Pakistan’s food and energy security.

The company did not disclose in the filing the financial terms of the renewed lease, expected production levels, additional investment planned for the field, or any changes in the lease’s production or royalty arrangements.

Mari Energies Limited (formerly, Mari Petroleum Company Limited) is a public limited company incorporated in Pakistan on December 4, 1984, under the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (now superseded by the Companies Act, 2017).

The company is principally engaged in the exploration, production, and sale of hydrocarbons. It also provides exploration and production-related services and is involved in ventures related to mineral mining and technology businesses.
