KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi on Saturday took the oath as Chief Scout of Sindh. Provincial Scout Commissioner former Justice Hassan Feroz administered the oath, here at a ceremony.
Speaking after taking the oath, the Governor called for a renewed focus on scouting as a means of instilling patriotism, discipline and a spirit of public service among Pakistan’s youth.
“Scouting is an important means of promoting patriotism, discipline and a spirit of service among young people,” Hashmi said, urging authorities to revive scouting activities in schools and colleges across Sindh.
He said national development required more than technological advancement and argued that technology must be accompanied by a strong national outlook, discipline, knowledge and character.
“For the true progress of nations, technology must go hand in hand with a strong ideology, discipline, knowledge and exemplary character,” the governor said.
Hashmi said young people should be encouraged to develop a deeper love for Pakistan, serve their country and help others, describing these values as essential to building a responsible and cohesive society.
