FM Dar departs for Jordan to attend ministerial meeting on Jerusalem

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has departed for Jordan to attend a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem scheduled for August 5, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.
Dar is visiting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the invitation of Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi.
The meeting will bring together foreign ministers from Arab League and Islamic countries, including Pakistan, to formulate a unified position on the rapidly deteriorating situation in occupied Jerusalem.
The participating foreign ministers will also call on King Abdullah II of Jordan during the visit, according to the Foreign Office.
Dar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with participating foreign ministers on the sidelines of the meeting to exchange views on regional developments, particularly the situation in Palestine, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Pakistan’s participation in the ministerial meeting reflects its principled support for the Palestinian people and its commitment to the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
