ISLAMABAD: Agreeing to intensify diplomatic efforts over the deteriorating situation in Palestine, Pakistan has expressed its support to Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of a group of Arab and Islamic countries to take stock of the evolving situation in the Middle East region.
Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Jordan Ayman Safadi.
The two leaders expressed grave concern over the worsening situation in Palestine, particularly the continued Israeli military actions in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank, including intensified air strikes, ongoing ground operations, and escalating settler violence.
They strongly condemned the repeated mass incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem by Israeli settlers and far-right groups, as well as the restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers, stressing that such provocative actions violate the sanctity of the holy site, inflame tensions, and undermine prospects for peace.
DPM/FM Safadi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and efforts for regional peace and stability and expressed hope for positive outcomes from the ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
DPM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and reiterated Pakistan’s principled support for a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace through the implementation of the two-State solution, with the establishment of an independent, contiguous, and viable State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
