LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched its direct flight between Lahore and Manchester on Thursday, with flight PK-709 departing Lahore carrying 325 passengers bound for the United Kingdom.

According to the details, a formal ceremony was held at Lahore Airport ahead of departure, where a cake-cutting marked the occasion. PIA’s Chief Operating Officer, Khurram Mushtaq, was present to see off passengers before the flight took off. That flight was also seen off by the officials from the Manchester Airport Group.

Passengers at the event welcomed the direct air links between Lahore and Manchester, calling it a significant development for the Pakistani community based in the UK.

With the new Lahore route now operational, PIA’s weekly flight count between Pakistan and Manchester has risen to five. Four of these flights operate from Islamabad, while one weekly service now runs from Lahore.

PIA officials said the expansion represents a notable addition to the airline’s international network and is expected to strengthen people-to-people ties between Pakistan and the UK, offering added convenience to the British Pakistani community.
