KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi visited the British Deputy High Commission here on Thursday, where he discussed with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and Deputy High Commissioner Tom Burge the matters of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

The Governor was warmly received by the High Commissioner, Deputy High Commissioner and other members of the diplomatic staff.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a range of issues, including Pakistan-United Kingdom relations, economic and development cooperation, investment opportunities, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

They also discussed the importance of strengthening institutional linkages and expanding collaboration in areas of shared interest.

The discussions focused on further enhancing the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, which is underpinned by strong historical ties, extensive trade relations and a vibrant Pakistani diaspora residing in Britain.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region and appreciated the country’s efforts aimed at fostering dialogue, cooperation and regional security.

Governor Sindh highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral engagement and expressed Pakistan’s desire to further expand cooperation with the United Kingdom across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, education, climate resilience and governance.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-UK relations and maintaining close cooperation on issues of mutual concern. They agreed that enhanced diplomatic engagement and economic collaboration would contribute to greater prosperity and stability for both countries.

The meeting also underscored the significance of continued interaction between provincial leadership and international partners to promote development initiatives and explore new avenues of cooperation.

During the visit, High Commissioner congratulated Hashmi on performing Hajj and conveyed her best wishes for his continued health and success.
