LAHORE: The farmer-friendly and visionary initiatives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif are beginning to transform the fortunes of farmers across the province.

Under the CM directives, farmers are being supported through the distribution of green tractors; wheat and rice combine harvesters, super seeders, and other modern agricultural machinery. In a record achievement, 30,000 tractors have been distributed within just two years, with over 20,000 green tractors already delivered and the process underway to provide an additional 10,000 tractors.

Through the CM High-Tech Mechanization Financing Programme, farmers now have access to advanced machinery including combine harvesters and high-power tractors, supported by a loan allocation of Rs30 billion for farmers and service providers. Additionally, 5,000 super seeders have been distributed at a cost of Rs4 billion, significantly improving the wheat sowing process while also contributing to a gradual reduction in smog through the use of rice super seeders.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that mechanization is steering Punjab’s agriculture towards modern farming practices, reducing costs and increasing productivity. She urged farmers to move away from outdated traditional methods and adopt modern machinery to enhance agricultural output and sustainability.
