LAHORE: A delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by Lahore chapter president Faisal Mir, visited Minar-e-Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

The delegation laid floral wreaths at the monument and offered prayers for the martyrs of the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir urged the government to immediately announce the construction of national monuments dedicated to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto at Minar-e-Pakistan.

He proposed that memorials be erected on both sides of the monument, describing such recognition as essential to acknowledge their historic services to the country. Mir said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, making the country strategically strong, while Benazir Bhutto contributed to strengthening national defence through advancements in missile technology.

He added that Pakistan’s nuclear and missile capabilities have enabled it to emerge as a strong and dignified state.

He concluded by saying that the nation looks forward to the establishment of these memorials at Minar-e-Pakistan as a tribute to leaders who rendered significant sacrifices for the country.

Among others, Majeed Ghori, Mian Shahid Abbas, Khurram Farooq, Afraz Naqvi, Hassan Abbas, Tahira Habib Jalib, Javed Ilyas Butt, Asjad Malik, Rana Buland, Yasir Jalib, and Atif Khokhar were also part of the delegation.
