ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a phone call from Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on Monday, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the escalating regional tensions following Israel’s attack on Iran and subsequent strikes in the Gulf region.
They stressed the urgent need for restraint, de-escalation, and dialogue to safeguard regional peace and stability.
Sharif briefed al-Sharaa on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in response to the ongoing crisis and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in restoring peace and stability in the region.
In addition to the Middle East situation, the leaders also touched on recent developments in Afghanistan.
On the bilateral front, both expressed satisfaction with the long-standing ties between Pakistan and Syria and agreed to bolster cooperation in areas of mutual interest, while maintaining close coordination on regional issues.
