DC Matiari urges officers to ensure security of Chinese engineers

HYDERABAD: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Matiari Muhammad Yousif Sheikh chaired a meeting of the District Coordination Committee for the revised National Action Plan (NAP) at Latif Hall, Deputy Commissioner Secretariat Matiari, and directed the concerned officers to ensure complete security of Chinese engineers and other foreign experts working in the district under CPEC and non-CPEC projects, stating that no negligence in security matters will be tolerated under any circumstances.

He said that under the National Action Plan, it is extremely important to further strengthen the law and order situation in the district, improve intelligence coordination, and enhance effective communication among all institutions. During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding the District Intelligence Committee, security arrangements for CPEC and non-CPEC projects, the repatriation plan for illegal foreigners, child protection measures, and actions against human trafficking and forced labour.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that the registration process of all madrassas in the district be completed at the earliest, and legal action be taken against unregistered madrassas. He also instructed that pending NOCs should be decided without delay.

The meeting decided that strict action would be taken against the sale and transportation of illegal cigarettes, while relevant departments were directed to take immediate steps to remove illegal encroachments and unauthorized settlements.

The DC instructed authorities to inspect both legal and illegal fuel pumps, seal those selling substandard or short-quantity petrol, and take action against unregistered warehouses and submit reports accordingly.

He further directed that brick kilns across the district be regularly monitored and that unregistered or foreign workers employed there be identified and dealt with according to the law. The Regional Transport Authority was ordered to take daily action against overloading, violations of traffic laws, and vehicles charging excessive fares.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on a joint crackdown against smuggling, illegal hoardings, illegal dumping sites, non-custom-paid vehicles, narcotics, and other intoxicating substances. The Deputy Commissioner also issued instructions to ensure the elimination of electricity theft, strict enforcement of traffic laws, and effective implementation of Points of Sale regulations.
