KARACHI: A meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department was held, here on Saturday, with Sindh Senior Minister, and Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon in the chair, wherein important decisions related to ongoing mass-transit projects including Red Line BRT were taken to improve public transport in the city for the convenience of the public.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Managing Director of SMTA, Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, Project Director of Yellow Line, Kamal Dayo, CEO of Trans Karachi, Fawad Ghaffar Soomro and other senior officers from the concerned agencies, besides the consultants.
The CEO of Trans Karachi gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing development work of the Red Line BRT project, mentioning the progress achieved so far, the challenges being faced and future targets.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the pace of work on the Red Line BRT is generally satisfactory. However, it needs to be further accelerated.
He directed all concerned agencies to ensure daily progress. The timely completion of the corridor is a top priority of the Sindh government to reduce travel difficulties, traffic congestion, and the daily hardships faced by the public.
He also directed that the alternative traffic plan must be strictly implemented during construction work.
