ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Wednesday decided to consign to record 50 complaints, out of 59.
The Council examined 59 complaints filed under Article 209 of the Constitution. Of these, 50 complaints were ordered to be filed, 6 complaints were deferred, and 3 complaints were directed to be processed further in accordance with the law.
It also unanimously decided to defer the finalisation of the Draft Rules until the next meeting.
For eight complaints, the Council was reconstituted, whereby Justice Sarfraz Dogar was replaced by Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court Syed Muhammad Attique Shah.
Justice Yahya Afridi, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Chairperson SJC, presided over the meeting of the Council at the Supreme Court Building.
The meeting was attended by Chief Justice of Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) Aminuddin Khan; the judges of Supreme Court – Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, a judge of the FCC, Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court Aalia Neelum, and Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar.
Meanwhile, CJP/ Chairperson of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan chaired meetings of the JCP, with various compositions.
