ISLAMABAD: The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday raised serious concerns over the deteriorating health of its jailed founding chairman, Imran Khan, urging authorities to immediately grant him access to his personal physicians.

The party expressed alarm over what it described as an escalating national crisis regarding the former prime minister’s well-being, calling for urgent medical intervention.

In a statement, the PTI’s Central Information Secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, called on the government to act swiftly to ensure Khan receives proper medical care.

He pointed to a recent medical report submitted to the Supreme Court by Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, as well as information provided by the family of Bushra Bibi, which further underscored the urgency of the matter.

Akram condemned the denial of medical treatment to a high-profile political leader, describing it as a violation of humanitarian principles and a breach of constitutional rights.

“The refusal to provide medical access to a national figure like Imran Khan is a grave injustice,” he said. “If authorities continue to neglect his health, it will only heighten political tensions and fuel public unrest.”

The PTI leader’s comments come amid growing fears for Khan’s health following his prolonged detention, with increasing calls from within the country and abroad for his release and proper treatment.

The party has made it clear that it expects authorities to act responsibly and transparently, ensuring that Khan receives the medical attention he needs without further delay.

In addition to their concerns about Khan, PTI strongly condemned the abduction and torture of two prominent members of the party’s legal team – Supreme Court lawyers Ali Zaman and his brother, Waseem Zaman.

The party accused the state of using violence as a tool to silence dissent, calling for immediate accountability for those responsible.

Despite the mounting crackdown, PTI also vowed to continue its struggle for constitutional supremacy, the restoration of democratic norms, and the protection of the public mandate. The party made it clear that no amount of violence or intimidation will silence its resolve.

“Attempts to suppress the truth through violence will fail,” Akram said. “The voice of the people will never be silenced by force.”
